BOARD OF DIRECTORS
David S Jones – Chairman and CEO
Mr. Jones’ background has been primarily in the payments and electronic commerce industries in which he has over ten years of experience. Most recently, Mr. Jones served as Vice President of Corporate Development for Fiserv since 2004. Prior to that, David served as Vice President of Payment Strategy for JP Morgan Chase (Heritage Bank One) since 2002. Responsibilities at JP Morgan Chase included product management and strategy in the consumer payments group where he managed a $120 MM product P&L encompassing National Retail Lockbox, Regional Retail Lockbox, Distributed Payment Capture, and Emerging Payments. Prior to joining JP Morgan Chase, Mr. Jones founded and served as the Executive Vice President of billserv, Inc., a publicly traded electronic bill presentment and payment company. During his tenure at billserv Mr. Jones also served as President of bills.com, a consumer bill presentment and payment portal. Prior to founding billserv, Mr. Jones served as an Internet Strategist at Billing Concepts where he was directly responsible for emerging technologies M&A and the development of a web based convergent billing and payments solution. Mr. Jones has served on the boards of billserv, Inc., MyFreeLD.com, and ChatterCube Inc. and organizational boards including NACHA’s Electronic Bill Presentment and Payment council, San Antonio’s Riverwalk Economic Development board and Junior Achievement’s Executive Steering Committee. David holds an Executive MBA from the Cox School of Business at Southern Methodist University. David is also the proud father of two boys and coaches youth soccer.
Matthew P Frye – President and COO
Matthew Frye was most recently a Vice President of JP Morgan’s Global Treasury Services (GTS) division based in Dallas, Texas. Before joining JP Morgan (heritage Bank One), Matthew was the head of product management in charge of biller-focused solutions with Princeton eCom in Princeton, New Jersey. Prior to Princeton eCom, Matthew headed the product development teams in San Antonio, Texas with Billserv, Inc. In that role, Mr. Frye also managed all partnerships and reported directly to the CEO as advisor on market trends and strategy. Mr. Frye is recognized by NACHA as an Accredited ACH Professional (AAP). Matthew also holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice and an Executive MBA from the University of Texas.
Scott Walker
Scott B. Walker is a recognized leader in the financial technology industry having created an innovative, profitable and respected business in BillMatrix Corporation. The company’s main focus was in the biller direct market supporting an outsourced bill payment service. Beginning in 1999, he applied astute entrepreneurial skills to the growth in electronic financial transactions, resulting in the company experiencing explosive growth for over eight years. The company’s foundation of success was validated with an acquisition in August 2005 by Fiserv, Inc., one of the world’s most prominent providers of information management systems and services to the financial industry for $350 million. Mr. Walker continues to lead and oversee all strategic and operational aspects of BillMatrix.
Mr. Walker plays an active role in a number of national industry organizations and financial groups. He is widely known and well regarded for his perspective on the payments sector and his comprehensive understanding of technology innovations that are shaping the way consumers and businesses manage their financial resources. Since 2002, Scott Walker has been a member of the Board of Directors and served as Treasurer of the Direct Response Forum, a think tank that addresses issues, development of rules and regulations, and emerging payment methodologies for the card-not-present industry. Mr. Walker is also actively involved in the National ACH Association (“NACHA”) through its Council for Electronic Billing and Payment (“CEBP”).
Mr. Walker is dedicated to passing on his leadership philosophy and creative business development to the next generation of entrepreneurs. Mr. Walker is on the Board of Trustees for Thunderbird, the leading graduate school of Global Management, who honored him with an outstanding alumni achievement award for entrepreneurship in 2003. Mr. Walker also serves as Chairman of the advisory board for the Center for Global Entrepreneurship at the school, which he helped underwrite in 2005 for $1 million. Closer to home, Mr. Walker is a member of the Executive Board of Directors of Southern Methodist University’s Cox School of Business.
Mr. Walker serves his local community as a member of the steering committee and Board of Directors for Safer Dallas, Better Dallas, an organization dedicated to providing resources and financial assistance to the greater Dallas Police Department.
Continuing the entrepreneurial drive, Mr. Walker is involved in several new start-up companies as a board member and substantial investor including QT Technologies, PAY Jr., ProCore Laboratories and West Coast Leather.
John R. Witt
John R. Witt has 30 years of senior level experience in advising, managing and investing in small and medium size operating companies and is responsible for originating and evaluating investment opportunities for Copia Partners. Mr Witt’s management and consulting experience spans a diverse array of industries including venture capital, manufacturing, business process outsourcing, real estate investment, restaurant services and international freight. He currently serves as a director for ProCore Laboratories and Payjr Corporation. Prior board seats held include BillMatrix Corporation and Texas Optoelectronics.
Mr. Witt began his career in 1977 as a Certified Public Accountant with KPMG. As a manager with that firm he provided general management consulting services for many small and medium size companies in a variety of industries. Subsequent to his tenure at KPMG, Mr. Witt has held various executive level positions including Executive Vice President in charge of venture capital investments with Dalcor Companies, Chief Financial Officer of Intertrans Corporation, a publicly held international freight forwarding company, President of Darling Restaurant Services, a company serving over 50,000 restaurants in the U.S., and Chief Operating Officer for BillMatrix Corporation, a market leading electronic payments outsourcing company. During his career he has either led or been directly involved in a senior capacity in numerous mergers, acquisitions and corporate investments both domestically and internationally.
Mr. Witt is active in the electronic payments industry and has presented at a number of forums and conferences. He is a member of the Electronic Check Council and the Internet Council of the National ACH Association. Mr. Witt holds a BA from the Business School at Texas Tech University where he graduated summa cum laude.
